The Church is on Fire!

An older story but I’ve just now remembered to share it here.

You may wonder why Pandrea still exists, after all this time. What gives our music purpose, what’s the reason we keep making it? Some may think it’s for the fun of it, others that we’re doing it for the art, or maybe it’s because we enjoy seeing how people react to it.

In fact, no – as far as I’m concerned, the one thing that provides me the greatest artistic satisfaction, is seeing our stories come to life. This happened last month, when a dedicated Pandrea fan decided to turn the lyrics of our song 666 (Drunk) into reality, and burn his church into the ground while drunk.

We thank Father Ion Gheorghe, and we encourage other Pandrea fans to follow his lead. Maybe using other songs next.

Pandrea on the Radio!

Pandrea remains at the forefront of the Romanian underground metal scene, making its airwaves debut on the  famous Radio Guerrilla station. It has come to our attention that on the night of April 15th, they played the classic hit Iepure, during the show “Zona Libera” (Free Zone).

But this was not the first time the alien rabbit descended upon the unsuspecting frequency modulated waves – he was also present at the same show the week before, April 8th. You can grab the podcast here, Iepure starts about 59 minutes in.

Apart from this, Pandrea remains active at the usual pace, and as in every year, we’ll bring you much joy and delight come summer.

Surprise CD!

It has come to our attention from one of our fans who got the Aurochs Bellow CD from our cafepress shop, that due to an error, an image belonging to some other band was printed on the back cover, namely this picture:

Consider yourself warned, and buy from cafepress at your own risk! No, seriously, go ahead and buy :D

In other news, it is now easier than ever to subscribe to the Pandrea site feed, just follow the alien rabbit in the top right!

Did you know?

On the day before the battle of Vaslui, the whole of Stephen the Great’s army held total fasting? Thus, they defeated the Turkish army, which consisted of far more fighters, well versed in the martial arts, while our Moldavians were only endowed with the martial arts of the spirit.

Had we known about this fact, we definitely would’ve introduced it in the lyrics of ‘Stephen the Great’ …unfortunately, we only found out at a Christian lecture, yesterday.

The Aurochs is Here!

As I was telling you some months ago, we wanted to make the new album available on CD, for anyone to buy. We’ve settled on using cafepress.com to begin with, they offer a great on-demand printing service and ship all over the world. I didn’t want to make it all public until I tested it myself, so I sent them a Master CD of the album and then I ordered it. It took two weeks for the CD to get here, but it was worth the wait; it came out surprisingly good!

Here it is, still wrapped in plastic.

I was afraid (judging by the image preview feature on cafepress) the writing would come out blurry, but as you can see, it came out really sharp and the lyrics (Romanian version pictured here) are easily readable!

…and there’s the whole package! Ain’t that a beauty to behold? You can now buy yourself a copy of the best mioritic album of 2007, right here. And also, what better occasion than this to announce the opening of the official Pandrea shop, Greuceanu’s Grotto – featuring everything from t-shirts to yard signs!

Enjoy folks, and stay Pandrea! \m/

A special note for non-Romanian speaking listeners: there are English translations of the lyrics available in the download pack, but you may want to skip over track 3 – it’s a narration of a traditional Romanian tale. Here’s a small wikipedia page about the story, if you’re interested. We just took its text and adapted it to the Aurochs theme.

Sign of Life

We’re still alive, but due to various circumstances work on the new album has been slow. We hope to have it ready by the end of the month. Recording of the rhythm and acoustic guitars is done, and I’m optimistic about meeting this new, and hopefully final deadline.

Aurochs Bellow will be available as a free download, but we’re also planning a CD release. Would you buy the CD, including bonus tracks and quality artwork&packaging? Let us know what you think. We’re considering several options of providing the CDs and we want to make the best choice for both you and us. Any suggestions are welcome, feel free to comment below.
